Buh-bye Bukit

The last week has been all about the Bukit peninsula, the very south of Bali – surfing, drinking, and lounging beach life.

My Favorite Moments

1. Ulu Watu

Shores of Ulu Watu

Drinking beers and watching people surf crazy waves at sunset overlooking the waves from the cliffside. Going out into the water via a cave. Eating a delicious Nalu bowl at Single Fin.

2. Chilling at Villa #1 in Padang Padang

3. Surfing Padang Padang

4. Visiting Other Beaches: Impossibles, Balangan, Jimbaran for swimming, drinking, sunsets, and meeting people

IMG_9548This is Balangan, with super chilled out vibe with broad vistas, cows up overhead, and good for beginning surfers too. I still need to check out Bingin beach!

5. Eating, of course

Home-cooked cilantro shrimp Mahi mahi ceviche

Drinking Djamu herbal drink, kratom tea (illegal in Thailand but legal in the U.S.), and going to places like Buddha Soul, Warung Sushi, Kat’s Corner for Thai, and a few top-notch Italian places. One special night was when myself and three other guys (one Peruvian) cooked cilantro shrimp, mahi mahi ceviche, and seafood paella with ingredients from the Jimbaran fish market, the first two plates shared with a single forks.

6. Most importantly, the jokes, the laughs, the stories, the wacko business ideas, the conversations with the people I met, which can’t be captured by photographs…only by my unfortunately bad memory…alas, but an impression

I may go back to the Bukit before my Bali trip is over, with my own digs and a lot more surfing.
